The Art of Life | by Joel

What is important when creating art?

Some people would say “an imagination”
Some people would say “the right tools or ingredients”
Some people would say “contrast”

What is art? To me… It is something that is done to bring beauty to our attention. Continue reading “The Art of Life | by Joel”

Poly/Cotton Memories

I am not a hoarder. I am not a pack rat. I AM a sentimentalist.

I have a problem. But so do you. Continue reading “Poly/Cotton Memories”

Bismarck, Summer 2016

There is something about North Dakota. It’s not that it’s magical. And it’s not that it’s prettier than anywhere else. And there definitely isn’t a lot to do. But every time I’m up here, I feel like the smoke of the everyday clears and I can think better. Maybe it’s the air. The wind that constantly blows. Or maybe it’s all the delicious homemade meals. Continue reading “Bismarck, Summer 2016”

You Can’t Have Your Iced Coffee and Drink It Too

Apparently.

I’ve never hated Mondays. I mean, ever so often I would dread working on a Monday but it’s because I wanted the weekend to last longer. It wasn’t Monday’s fault. But you haven’t had a true Monday until you’ve sipped spilled iced coffee off of your carpet through a straw. Continue reading “You Can’t Have Your Iced Coffee and Drink It Too”

As Long as You’re Happy

But I am not okay with this phrase. Continue reading “As Long as You’re Happy”

Lessons Learned from Vines | by Joel

They don’t stop growing!!!

When Alyssa and I first moved in to our house on the corner (see above pic), I was drawn to how “wild” it felt. Continue reading “Lessons Learned from Vines | by Joel”

Gray Hairs and Gorges

Joel and I recently went hiking at Cloudland Canyon and LOVED it.

I am not as into hiking as Joel is. I love the outdoors, but I’m sort of allergic to all of it. And I don’t like being sticky and sweaty. Joel, however, has a  way of making you get excited about going on an adventure and, truth be told, I never regret joining him.

BUT something weeeeird happened on this particular hike. Continue reading “Gray Hairs and Gorges”

5 Steps to Cleanliness (sanity)

Why does it feel SO GOOD to be organized??? To know where everything is. To open the closet and see all the clothes hung or folded. To look at a cabinet and think, “Ah yes, I know what’s in there.” Continue reading “5 Steps to Cleanliness (sanity)”

I’m still here

I used to get so excited about growing up. When I was a teenager, I always felt a little different than everyone. (Didn’t we all feel that way?) And I would day dream about the day when I was living the perfect adult life. I would finally have it figured out, ya know? Life. Continue reading “I’m still here”
