“Why I Waited” Part 1 |Our First Kiss

There is so much to say on this topic. This topic, of course, being why I waited to have sex until I was married to my husband, Joel Sexy-Pants Land. Continue reading ““Why I Waited” Part 1 |Our First Kiss”

The Inn on Mill Creek

This was the first place Joel and I ever ventured to as husband and wife. It’s 30 minutes from Asheville and just East of Black Mountain and Old Fort, North Carolina. A perfect getaway, still close enough to civilization to enjoy a nice dinner out. Joel took me here for the first leg of our honeymoon in 2013. And he took me there again for our anniversary last year.  Continue reading “The Inn on Mill Creek”

What Four Years Looks Like

On Oct. 20th, my sweet Joel Randy and I celebrated four whole years of marriage. We celebrated on a hammock strung between two trees at Chester Frost park and asked each other questions like, “Do you remember what our first dates were like?” Or “What do you think has changed the most about me since those early dating years?” It doesn’t matter though, really. Cause whoever he is now is stuck with whoever I am now. That’s the beauty of marriage. 😉 Continue reading “What Four Years Looks Like”

I Got a Feelin’…

Touch is powerful. When Joel and I held hands for the first time, it was electric. I don’t mean to sound dramatic here, but Joel had only hugged me or lightly put his arm around me for at least the first couple months of our relationship. So on a chilly night in early spring, fire crackling in front of us, Joel slipped his fingers through mine. Finger. By. Finger. The butterflies came up out of my tummy and into my throat. I’ve never seen Joel act in impulse. This wasn’t just hormonal or emotional, it was intentional. There was purpose behind it. He didn’t just have an urge to touch me and do it. He was saying I was important. Worth his time. He was saying he saw a future with me and was ready for whatever was next on our great adventure. He wasn’t acting on an in the moment “feeling…” Continue reading “I Got a Feelin’…”

I Don’t Speak Husband

My favorite premarital advice was from a friend of my mom’s. She said, “When your husband tells you he didn’t know, believe him. He really didn’t know.” I giggled. Boys. So clueless, right? I think we women enjoy eye-rolling at our men a little too much. They’re cute, but oh so dumb.

I Didn’t Marry My Best Friend

Joel Land is my best friend, make no mistake.

But he wasn’t when we got married. Continue reading “I Didn’t Marry My Best Friend”

Sometimes I Don’t Wanna Kiss Joel

It’s not that I want to not kiss him.

I just want to engage with him in a different way. Continue reading “Sometimes I Don’t Wanna Kiss Joel”

Monday moping

Ah! What better day than a Monday for Olson to cut teeth? That’s right… multiple teeth breaking through the skin.

What better day than a Monday to wake up cold and stuffy because it keeps dropping to the 40s at night? Continue reading “Monday moping”

What did I say yes to?

My first trip to North Dakota

I didn’t even flinch when I said “I do” to Joel on our wedding day. I mean good grief. He’s gorgeous. He’s so sweet-it’s almost annoying. And most of all, that man KNOWS how to love me. There was that one time he had a mullet, but let the past stay in the past.
